I’ve been looking into creating content for mobile devices. There’s not a whole lot of information out there yet. Specifically I’m trying to get the new quicktime video format, 3gpp up and running so that we can deliver content through it. I just bought a new RZR and there’s a new feature called MobiTV, it looks pretty interesting, I’m not sure if they’re using 3gpp or something else. Tons of networks are delivering content through it all ready.
I’ve also got a book on Multimedia Messaging (MMS.) I think the carriers really need to figure out that TXT and MMS are no different than email, and no one should be charged extra for them. It should be included in the service. I would think the carriers could figure out a better way to make money from SMS/MMS. Hey, what do I know?
We just heard from a content aggregator in Japan interested in Robotube Games ported over to Flash Lite. I’m not sure why Flash Litehas caught on so rapidly in Japan and not in the US.
Speaking of Robotube, I’ll be testing a new US short code next week. Hopefully before the week is out we’ll be able to deliver content via short codes in addition to the WAP push. There are rumors circulating that we will be able to add more carriers to our delivery system within the next few weeks or months.
If anyone has any insight into any of these topics, please post a comment.
